Prices from the source
We collect unit sizes, prices, and promotional terms directly from each facility's own public website — the same page you'd visit yourself. No aggregators, no middlemen, refreshed regularly.
The average self-storage renter stays 20 months. Every comparison site shows a one-month headline rate. We thought that was worth fixing.
Search for storage in any city and you'll see the same thing: a grid of facilities sorted by the lowest advertised monthly rate. That number is almost always a move-in special — first month free, 50% off the first three months, or a web-only promo that expires.
What you actually pay after month one is different. Existing-customer rate increases average 8–15% per year. Admin fees at move-in run $20–$40. Required insurance adds $10–$15 per month. None of that shows up in the headline.
If you're storing for a year or more — and most renters are, whether they planned to be or not — the headline rate is the wrong number to compare.
We collect unit sizes, prices, and promotional terms directly from each facility's own public website — the same page you'd visit yourself. No aggregators, no middlemen, refreshed regularly.
Facility tables show listed monthly rent × 12 — the number you can verify yourself. No hidden fees baked in. For the true all-in cost (rate increases, admin fees, protection plans), use the calculator and adjust every assumption.
We detect and badge three things other comparison sites don't surface: annual prepay discounts, rate-lock language, and "13th month free" offers — the deals that actually benefit a renter staying 12+ months.
Facilities are discovered via Google Places and indexed by metro. We then collect unit prices, amenity details (climate control, drive-up access), and promotional terms from each facility's own public website.
Our prices come from each facility's public website — never from other comparison sites or aggregators. When a facility doesn't publish prices online, we list it without a rate rather than guess. Prices are refreshed regularly and timestamped on every page.
The all-in cost calculator uses defaults based on industry research (REIT disclosures, SSA surveys, sampled facility fee schedules). Every default is documented on the calculator page and can be overridden. Facility price tables intentionally show only listed rent × 12.
Prices shown here reflect the facility's public website at the time of our last update. They may not reflect current availability, in-person rates, or promotions that require a phone call. Always verify with the facility before reserving.
The all-in cost calculator produces estimates, not guarantees — it adds assumptions about rate escalation and fees on top of listed rent. Facilities with rate-lock programs may perform better than the estimate; facilities with aggressive escalation policies may perform worse.
